ALTEA
Considered as one of the most attractive cities along the Costa Blanca, Altea is ideally located just south of Calpe, Altea and about 15km north of Benidorm. At present, the city has an estimated 15,000 inhabitants.Altea is also one of the very few villages that have retained its fishing village flair despite the rapid changes over the years. It boasts of a scenic and warm ambience allowing the locals and tourists to have a more relaxed stay in Altea. The area exudes a vibe of a typical Spanish village making it to the list of top tourist destinations in the Costa Blanca region.
Famous for the church Nuestra Senora del Consuelo or Virgen de Consuelo with a picturesque blue roof, Altea also boasts of very attractive places such as its harbour and the Sunday markets. The harbour is dotted with many quaint restaurants and bars that provide the locals and visitors a wide range of dining and entertainment options. The Sunday markets, on the other hand, are considered a must-visit especially La Nucia found at the northern part of Altea.
The town has more than a 5-kilometre stretch of excellent beaches divided into many different sections. On the south are the La Road and the Cap Blanc and on the north is the Cap Negret. Unlike the beaches found along the south of the Costa Blanca and Alicante, Altea beaches are not sandy but feature crystal clear waters and a scenic view making the place ideal to relax.
