Calpe is a beautiful village located in between Altea to the south and Javea to the north. It has the mildest weather around the Costa Blanca making it ideal for fishing and other water sports.
Reaching Calpe is a treat in itself because traversing the national road allows you to enjoy the view of the coastline and the bays. With an estimated 13,000 inhabitants, Calpe is popular for its rock called Penon De Ifach. This impressive rock has been attracting a great number of tourists and sightseers.
Calpe takes pride in its main beaches called the Playa Arenal and Cantal Roig and known for the fine sand. Also famous are the fishing and yacht harbour with steady wind conditions, proving that Calpe is indeed an ideal tourist destination.
Other must-visit destinations aside from the beaches are the beautiful churches built centuries ago but are still standing today. The church Iglesia Antigua and the church of Señora de las Nievas both located in the centre of Calpe are definitely must-see. Built in the 15th century, the old churches have been reconditioned a lot of times over the past centuries to mend the damage done by pirates who have attacked the city many times before. Calpe also has an archaeological museum that displays artefacts found from the 4th until the 8th century. Ruins and remnants lend a nostalgic vibe to the over-all feel of the city’s centre.
