CATRAL

The name Catral comes from the Moorish 'Al-Quatrullat' and the Moorish influence is reflected in much of the architecture surrounding this quaint city. Located southwest of Alicante in Costa Blanca South, the scenic town of Catral thrives primarily in its rich agricultural resources. This town is endowed with fertile lands and mild climate, which is visible, as it offers a feast for the eyes, lush greenery.

Nevertheless, footwear is also an important product manufactured in the region. These industries reflect the unperturbed lifestyle in this community.

For the nostalgic traveller, this city is a comfortable haven of tradition sprinkled with inevitable indications of modernity and progress. Long leisurely walks through the countryside might just lead you to the Hondon Reservoir which is one of the manifestations of a modern yet casual atmosphere. It is a preserved natural park, which many people have embarked on as a rural trail.

Generally thought of as a quite town, there is more to Catral than meets the eye. The city boasts of high quality banks, lively taverns, efficient medical centres, a public library accessible to everyone, and a bustling sports centre. Also, Catral has many bars, restaurants, schools, shops and beautiful parks. It even hosts a hot air balloon ride which is a spectacular trip. Catral has a small weekly market held on a Saturday where you can purchase fresh fruit and vegetables, clothes, shoes and flowers.

Truly, it promises the traveller a mélange of activities to enjoy.
