One of the most picturesque places to spend the holidays in Spain, Denia is located 85 km north east of Alicante along the Costa Blanca. Travelling to this place is easy because Denia is accessible via road N 332, a road along the coastline of Costa Blanca.
Denia is situated between Javea in the south and the Gandia in the north. It can be found directly on the outskirts of the mountain Montgo. The town enjoys a pleasant climate with summer temperature reaching 40°C in summer but hardly less than 5°C during winter.
Denia boasts of a stable water sport resort as evident in the excellent surfing and sailing activities in town. It relies much on its harbour, which has ferry connections to Ibiza, Mallorca and others. On the other hand, fishing has become a primary source of living in this area aside from the outstanding tourism. The huge fishing made Denia a prosperous city over the years. The city has also managed to maintain its suburban flair with its real estate booming along the Costa Blanca region.
Must-see and visit are the Castillo (castle) built during the 11th and 12th century. The Castillo surrounds the sea, the city, and the back lands providing a more scenic view. Within the castle is the Palau del Governador, a museum showcasing the details of the rich history and culture of Denia.
Along the main of Calle de Marques de Campo in Denia, there are many interesting shops as well as bars and restaurants offering exquisite cuisine and entertainment. In Denia, there are local confectionery and bakery shops that offer excellent cakes and pastries that any sweet tooth traveller will surely enjoy.
Exquisite marine experience, historic architecture, sweet desserts, and a pulsating tourist community, Denia is truly a worthy destination on this side of Spain.
