SANTA POLA

Santa Pola is located on the southernmost stretch of the province of Alicante. It is built on the shores of a large bay and as such, it is not surprising that fishing has always been of great importance to the town.

But the clear blue waters are not only for fish. With several beautiful beaches, holiday makers and residents alike spend considerable time on the golden sands sunbathing and then swimming to cool off.

It is a wonderful town thriving on tourism, yet managing to retain its culture and tradition. Santa Pola is a feast for the senses—with its golden beaches that stretch the length of the town—it truly is a lively melting pot of both local residents and tourists. Day and night, the town exudes a friendly vibe, catering to people of all ages.

The town has everything from fortresses and castles that date back in the 16th century, a marine museum and a 20th century construction called Plaza de la Glorieta, where locals meet and dine. Santa Pola boasts of beaches with golden sand, perfect for water sports. The fishing industry flourishes in this area, and reflects on the town’s gustatory delights. Fish straight off the boats are sold in daily markets while the Saturday market promises to satisfy bargain hunters. The Santa Pola marina has more to offer still, with a wide variety of water based sports including sailing, fishing and regattas. Its Nautical Club is one of the finest sites on the coast. It has a rowing, sailing and canoeing school. Diving is also popular in the clear waters. Because of the heights of the Santa Pola Cape, you can also enjoy paragliding and hang gliding.

Taking a break from the beaches is always an option here too, because Santa Pola has so much more. Explore the natural park of Las Salinas and discover the beauty of the salt flats and resident flamingos. By night, Santa Pola's streets are a buzzing mishmash of locals and visitors in the various cafes and fish restaurants.

With such superb accommodations and recreational infrastructure paired with the region's privileged climate and varied recreational activities Santa Pola ranks as a top destination for any wide-eyed tourist.
