LLORET DE MAR

Formerly a fishing village, Lloret de Mar has now transformed into a tourist capital of Costa Brava. Laying its 7km coastline is paradise, with five scenic beaches, all of which have been awarded the blue flag for its quality and efficient service.

The city boasts of a broad range of cultural and natural attractions. Because of its rich history, which dates back to the third century B.C., Lloret is an interesting showcase of growth and progress. It has managed to preserve its traditions without compromising modernity.

Lloret promises fun and enjoyment to the highest peak, with sports facilities, shopping centres, hotels, bars and restaurants, a even a massive water park, aquatic zoo and a theme park which entices one to get wet and wild. The night life in Lloret is first class, with fabulous entertainment. For a taste of the authenticity of Spain, visitors can revel in the town’s Placa de la Vila on Saturday evenings to join in when locals dance the traditional Catalonian Sardana dance and experience gastronomic delights.

Despite Lloret’s modernistic appeal, it upholds tradition and culture by the preservation of its many notable structures including the Pujol-Farnés House and the so-called Liceu. The Sant Romà Parish Church is also a must-visit, with its high altarpiece painted by Seraphin, aided by Jaume Fontanet, as well as its Gothic portico and belfry with Romanesque evocations.

Lloret de Mar undoubtedly creates an incredible picture of the Spanish culture.
