MAR MENOR
Popular for its amenities and lovely location, Mar Menor is situated in Murcia on the eastern part of Spain. Also known as the “Little Sea”, Mar Menor is blessed to be located in a region that has both a saltwater lake and the Mediterranean shore in its surrounding. This area is part of the Costa Calida and it boasts of the largest area of salt-water lake in Europe stretching up 170 sq. km.Mar Menor was founded on the Roman and Arabic Periods when the Romans took notice of the vast area. They started a salt industry and since then it became the town’s main industry and source of income as well.
For the last 1000 years, the famous salt-water lake retained its beauty and is constantly being developed. Mar Menor has been recognized as a vacation haven for tourists with its scenic views, landscapes, and the mud and clay found in the area that are believed to have essential therapeutic properties for more than hundreds of years now.
