ALMERIA AIRPORT
The Almeria Airport, located 10 kilometres east of the city centre, is the second most important airport in the Andalucian regions. Foreign tourist arrivals have grown in number allowing the airport’s service to be more developed and more efficient.Regular national flights to Melilla, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, and Madrid are available in Almeria Airport as well as international flights to Munich, Dusseldorf, and London Gatwick. Numerous charter companies do however fly in and out of Almeria, because of its accessibility and amenities.
The terminal building comprises of three floors. The ground floor has an arrival area with baggage check, medical services and tour operator services. The lower floor caters for departures and waiting room. Both the ground and lower floor has a café bar where people can relax and unwind before or after a flight. The upper floor is used for administration and has terraces for passengers and visitors. It can also be used for an extra departure hall if needed.
Getting to the city from the Almeria Airport is easy, with the excellent airport transfers. If you have wisely chosen to rent-a-car at the airport, the infinitive Almeria car hire will tend to your every whim. If you are just going a short distance, then there are local buses which commute to and from the airport, transferring passengers to nearby towns and the city every half hour starting at 7 a.m. and finishing its last journey at 9 p.m. Taxis are also available for about 15 Euro to the city centre, 19 Euro to Aguadulce, 26 Euro to Roquetas, 23 Euro to Cabo de ata, 40 Euro to El Ejido, and 75 Euro to Mojacar.
The Almeria Airport is a good starting point in anyone’s itinerary to begin to explore this impressive multiform scenery, varying from desert mountain ranges to beautiful hidden coves.
