In the northern part of the province of Almeria, bordering the Mediterranean Sea lays a town with attractive harbours and spectacular beaches…Garrucha.
As a famous tourist slogan of the town goes, “Sun and Seafood”, Garuccha is known for its golden beaches, which stretches up to several kilometres. It has become an ideal place for watching the sunset, water sports, or sunbathing. Sometimes called the “City of Prawns”, Garrucha too has a strong fishing industry, and it is its main source of income. A great selection of restaurants and bars with many excellent seafood restaurants can be found along the seafront serving the fresh catch of the day, making Garrucha a focal point of the province for delectable fish cuisine.
Other famous destinations to visit aside from the golden beaches, is the Vera Aquatico park, Turre (Spanish market village), Parish Church de San Joaquin, and the Hermitage de la Virgen del Carmen which is the town’s patron saint.
The sun and seafood aren’t the only tourist attractions in the town. Another relaxing activity to be enjoyed here is strolling along Paseo Maritimo, which is palm tree lined. Watching the sunset over the Mediterranean Sea is a glorious experience in Garrucha as it has beautifully landscaped areas to make the experience even more wondrous.
