ROQUETAS DE MAR

What used to be a once sleepy, picturesque fishing village now attracts many people in search for a rare glimpse of spectacular mountain backdrops, excellent harbours, and pristine beaches. Those are what makes Roquetas de Mar an ideal town to live in or visit.

Roquetas de Mar has emerged as an investment location these past few years, making it attractive to both businessmen and tourists. Numerous restaurants and bars, shops selling local crafts can be found in this holiday strip. At present, the town has more than 4000 registered businesses. Tourism and agriculture are two of the main industries in Roquetas de Mar, but with the emerging technology and important infrastructure, the town has become more open to companies engaged in multimedia, financial services, retail, real estate, and information technology. The boom has allowed the town to host the 2005 Mediterranean Games.

The influx of businesses has led to the flourishing tourism in this area, making Roquetas de Mar one of the more popular destinations in Spain. The place boasts of many interesting places to visit and activities to do. A visit to the Auditorio Theatre is a must. The architecture of this theatre is akin to that of New York’s Guggenheim Museum and most of its performers are international musicians and artists. The Castillo de Santa Ana is another place which hosts important cultural and art events, and of course the Roquetas de Mar Plaza de Toros which is home to concerts and bullfights, a tribute to Spain’s rich culture.
