The sea in Villaricos locates Vera, the walled and renaissance town in the province of Almeria. The beaches of Vera are clean and have large sandy seabed perfect for snorkelling. There is even a 5-kilometre stretch of long beach (Vera Playa) famous for its crystalline waters and powdery white sand with a beautiful mountain range as backdrop borders the progressive town of Vera.
Aside from the beach, an important travel destination is the 16th century built La Encarnacion church which was said to be built as a fort against the Moors and are currently flanked by 4 towers. This church features remarkable altarpieces and architecture. The Ayuntamiento town hall is also a must-see. It houses the municipal archives and an archaeological and ethnographic museum exhibiting the rich culture, history, and tradition of Vera. Other architectural monuments in Vera are the 6th century Royal Hospital, the Cuatro Canos fountain, the Espiritu Santo chapel and the Plaza de Gloria Square, which provides a breathtaking lookout point.
