TARIFA

The sun, the wind and the surf, makes Tarifa the best destination for a true beach aficionado. Otherwise known as “the Windy City”, it boasts of a 10km stretch of white sandy beaches, unspoilt countryside, and some of the best windsurfing conditions in Europe, making it a true surfer’s paradise.

This city is situated in the southernmost tip of Europe, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic Ocean, and at its narrowest point, spans 11kms across the Strait of Gibraltar. Tarifa is a melting pot to the many cultures that have lived on its streets in the past. Roman and Moorish influences are still evident in the city today, radiating the unique charm that makes Tarifa a flourishing tourist destination.

For a person who loves nature at its finest, Tarifa would undoubtedly mesmerize you. Surrounded by unexplored mountains, you will find free running horses, cows, goats, donkeys, sheep and pigs in its midst. The world's largest cork forest, Natural Park Los Alcornocales can be found nearby, from where you can enjoy impressive views of the African Continent, which is only a few kilometres away.

Tarifa is also famous for its most recognized monuments, one of which that was built in 960 AC to rise above the city skyline is “Guzman el Bueno” which also lines the border of nearby Africa. For something extraordinary one could go for a walk amongst the windmills on the hills surrounding Tarifa which provides power for approximately 300,000 inhabitants.

Other adventure activities available in Tarifa include whale watching, horse riding, and mountain biking and climbing.
