ALHAURIN
Fast becoming popular with the tourists and expat community, Alhaurin is an inland area of the Costa del Sol. It is where the Alhaurin el Grande and Alhaurin de la Torre can be found. Both can also be reached 20 minutes from the Mijas and Malaga. Alhaurin area is also home to Severiano Ballesteros-designed Alhaurin Golf which is an excellent golf course designed with a clubhouse and nearby hotel.Alhaurin is a thriving town in the Costa del Sol region blessed with superb panoramic views overlooking the valleys, mountains, and the Mediterranean Sea. The town has maintained its unique character despite the fact that there are recent modern developments. Its old charm has perfectly blended with modernization making Alhaurin a more ideal place to visit.
One of the most picturesque villages in the Guadalhorce river valley, Alhaurin was named by the Arabs, meaning 'the valley', because of its situation upon the valley of the Fahala River. On the other hand, some historians say that the name means 'Almighty God' for the Arab word "Alhauerin". Golf enthusiasts will find that there are other excellent choices of superb golf courses such as the Parador and Lauro Golf aside from the famous Alhaurin Golf.
