CASARES
Located high above the surrounding valleys and the Mediterranean Sea below, Casares is one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. A whitewashed village, Casares is said to be one the original Andalucian ´pueblos blancos´. This town is accessible and can be reached just 20 minutes from the coast. Locals and tourists will find that there are excellent golf courses at the Dona Julia golf resort and the prestigious Hyatt hotel that are presently being developed at the coastal area.Truly a picturesque village, Casares boasts of beautiful white villages and excellent facilities as well as spectacular tourist spots. The well-known sugar cubes are piled high nudging the battlements of an Arab castle. Casares is said to be an enchanting village located a mere nine miles from the coast.
Walk along the hilly streets of Casares and you will find why the town has become a popular travel destination. The Restaurant La Terraza serves sumptuous local and international cuisine. Interesting tourist spots in Casares include the Iglesia de la Encarnación, a ruined church and built in 1505 when Spain reclaimed its freedom from the Moors. The Hermitage of Vera Cruz, on the other hand, features walls showcasing the rich history of the town.
